
Eric Haden
Eric Haden is an undergraduate research assistant for the summer of 2025. He recently completed his third year in the Computer Engineering program at Queen’s University, having also spent part of his undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia. His current research focuses on robotic grasping—using RGB-D sensors and a machine learning classifier to identify grasp points on unfamiliar objects, and developing approach vectors for robotic manipulators to execute reliable grasps.
Eric’s research interests include robotics and manipulation, computer vision, and artificial intelligence. He has been recognized with several awards, including the Principal’s Scholarship (2021), Dean’s Scholar designation (2022), and the H. Arnold Cowan Scholarship (2024).
Originally from Vancouver, Eric is an avid mountain sports enthusiast who enjoys hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and skiing. He also spent the previous summer working in Montréal, further expanding his technical and cultural experiences.
